Abstract

Abstract Euseius quetzali McMurtry is reported from California for the first time. It occurs throughout the state on native Quercus spp., Rubus spp., and introduced nut and fruit trees. It is ecologically separated from other California Euseius species, which usually occur on different host plants. Crossing studies demonstrated partial reproductive compatibility between E. quetzali and E. hibisci (Chant), but complete reproductive isolation from E. tularensis Congdon. Morphological differences between the three species are presented.
