Supramolecular Complexation of 1,2‐Dicarbadodecaborane(12)

Abstract

An inclusion complex is formed between o-C2B10H12 and cyclotriveratrylene (CTV) in solution and in the solid state. The vector of approach of the carborane to the CTV cavity optimizes nonclassical hydrogen bonding between the CH groups and the aromatic ring centroids (shown schematically, right). The energy of each interaction is calculated to be 2.72 kcal mol-1.
