The elastic moduli of a single crystal of rhodium are measured between 4.2 and 300 K. The value of the tetragonal shear modulus extrapolated to 0 K is in agreement with the result calculated previously by a new theoretical method. This represents the first correct prediction of a shear modulus in a transition metal, based on an ab initio theoretical calculation.
