Abstract In the spring of 1962 Caltha palustris was in bloom from April 30 to May 26. Thirty-nine species of insects in Cantharidae, Nitidulidae, Coccinellidae, Chrysomelidae, Cerambycidae, Miridae, Thripidae, Pieridae, Tenthredinidae, Apidae, Halictidae, Andrenidae, Formicidae, Sepsidae, Sciomyzidae, Ephydridae, Syrphidae, Anthomyiidae, Tachinidae and Muscidae visited the leaves and flowers. Many were found carrying pollen of the plant.
