Rhizobial-indduced chlorosis in soybeans is a rather ullustual disease, in that it is induced by certain strains of the root nodule organismi, Rhi.vobium japonticumzl (1). The rhizobia fix nitrogen and at the same time induce chlorosis in the new leaf growth of the host planit. Water extracts of the nodules of chlorotic plants have been found capable of inducing chlorosis in soybeans and in seedlings of maniy other higher plants (5).
