ABSTRACT The active principle of Lycopus acts on certain pituitary hormones. In vitro the effect of gonadotrophic hormones from different sources (adenohypophysis, PMS, HCG) as well as the effects of TSH are diminished or totally abolished by freeze dried aqueous extracts of Lycopus virginicus.
