Abstract

Abstract Operative cholangiography (OC), although available, was withheld in 330 (68.2%) of a series of 484 consecutive cholecystectomies performed for gallstones. A follow‐up study, conducted between 1 and 2 years after the operation, revealed 1 patient with a retained stone in the group not submitted to operative cholangiography. Although there is a strong case in favor of performing OC routinely, this has yet to be shown to be safer than selective use .
