Studies on the motivation for the production of ultrasound in rodents revealed that two principal factors influence this phenomenon in the infants. These have already been reported in full for white mice and partially for Wistar rats and Golden hamsters. The present paper completes the report on all five species that were investigated and makes a general assessment of the findings.
