Abstract

Framing and streak-camera photography is used to detect the breakup of a reversed-field pinch plasma into randomly distributed, discrete rings. The subsequent motion of these rings is studied. The properties of the rings suggest that they have their origin in a resistive instability. (T.F.H.)
