Sizes and shapes of the component phases of immiscible polymer blends are strongly influenced by the viscoelastic properties of each component. For mixtures of different poly(ethylene terephthalate)s and polyamide-6 it can be established that the morphology under shear is the result of the viscosity ratio, which determines the size of the droplet-phase, and of the difference in the component elasticities affecting the shape of the dispersed phase.
