The melting point of high T c superconductors was determined as a function of oxygen partial pressure. It decreased with the decrease in oxygen partial pressure. It was concluded that the melting is a kind of reduction reaction, in the form of Solid(I) → Solid(II) + Liquid + O 2 . The enthalpy change Δ H 0 and the entropy change Δ S 0 for the reaction are calculated from the oxygen partial pressure independence of melting point.
