Abstract

CANCER RESEARCHAbout 15 years ago, evidence began accumulating that aspirin and related drugs, known as NSAIDs, hinder the development of colon cancer and perhaps other cancers as well. But researchers are deeply divided over how they exert this potentially beneficial effect--an important issue, because figuring out the mechanism could aid the design of better chemopreventive drugs. Consequently, on 8 January, the National Cancer Institute brought many of the leading researchers in the field together for a workshop aimed at examining the evidence on both sides.
