Abstract

The quark structure functions of the proton are determined through a combined analysis of the reactions $\mathrm{pN}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}l\overline{l}X$ and $\mathrm{eN}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{eX}$. The valence-quark structure function of the pion is also given by analyzing the $\ensuremath{\pi}N\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\mu}\overline{\ensuremath{\mu}}X$ data measured by the Branson et al.
