Some methylplatinum(IV) complexes of the type [PtXyMe4–yL2](X = halogen; y= 0–3; L = PMe2Ph or AsMe2Ph) have been pyrolysed and the gases evolved and the platinum(II) complexes formed have been identified. Acetyl complexes of the type [PtXMe2(COMe)L2] on pyrolysis give acetone and trans-[PtXMeL2] in quantitative yields.
