Abstract

An electromagnetic interaction between the neutron and electron which is both spin- and velocity-independent is expected to exist if there is a separation of electrical charges in the neutron so that while neutral as a whole, it contains regions of nonvanishing charge density. There will then exist electric flelds inside the neutron, and electrons penetrating this extended charge distribution will be subjected to electrostatic forces. This spin- and velocity- independent interaction is reviewed. (W.D.M.)
