Abstract

ABSTRACT This article presents the Trauma Outcome Process, an integrated treatment model for guiding clinical practice with children with sexually abusive behavior problems. Criteria for identifying children with sexually abusive behavior problems are presented. The Trauma Outcome Process is presented and compared with other approaches commonly used in clinical practice with sexually abused children and juvenile sexual offenders. The application of the Trauma Outcome Process model in assessing children with sexually abusive behavior problems is discussed and specific steps are provided to guide the assessment process. The advantages of the Trauma Outcome Process model over victim-specific or offender-specific approaches are highlighted.
