SYNTHETIC MODELS RELATED TO DNA‐INTERCALATING MOLECULES. INTERACTIONS BETWEEN 8‐ALKOXYPSORALEN AND ADENINE*

Abstract

Abstract To investigate the interactions and the photoreactions between furocoumarins and adenine, we have synthesised compounds in which a psoralen molecule is linked by different polymethylene bridges to adenine. Ring‐ring intramolecular interactions are observed by UV spectroscopy. Thermodynamic parameters of these hydrophobic interactions are determined by the study of the variation of the hypochromic effect with temperature.
