This paper presents the dynamic and steady state performance of a stand alone self excited induction generator (SEIG) with digitally controlled electronic load controller feeding single phase and three phase loads. The values of the capacitances are chosen to ensure self-excitation of the machine and to minimize the unbalance between the stator voltages. The excitation capacitors, ELC and load combined with the d-q model of the machine, together with the saturation are used to predict the dynamic behavior of the SEIG. This paper mainly deals with the viability of using digitally controlled ELC, which is more compact, reliable and cost effective for providing effective voltage regulation.
