Abstract

The results of observations of the IR source LkH-alpha 101 in the 2-2.4 and 4.04 microns spectral regions are reported. The data were taken on Sept. 6, 1982 at the Kitt Peak Observatory using a 3.75 in. aperture, a spectrometer and a dichroic beam splitter. The observed position of LkH-alpha 101 was compared with data gathered 7 yr previous. The 2-2.4 microns data indicated H I, He I, Mg II, Fe II, forbidden Fe II and forbidden Cr II lines were emitted from the circumstellar envelope. The 4.04 microns data revealed gas flow velocities up to 150 km/sec. Both the spectra and radio emissions arose in the envelope. The simultaneous excitation observed in the surrounding extended H II region and the ionized circumstellar envelope is taken as evidence for an anisotropic gas flow and a main sequence status for the star.
