Abstract Reactions of cycloolefins with iodine-cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate in alcohols (methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, and 2-propanol) under reflux gave the corresponding vicinal alkoxyiodocycloalkanes in good yields. In the case of t-butyl alcohol, trans-iodo nitrates were obtained.
