Hepatosplenic schistosomiasis is characterised by high blood markers of translocation, inflammation and fibrosis

Abstract

These data suggest that the bacterial translocation contributes to systemic inflammation in hepatosplenic schistosomiasis. Elevated fibrotic markers suggest they may be useful in diagnosing and monitoring periportal fibrosis.
