The tensor polarization of the deuteron in elastic electron–deuteron scattering depends on the ratio of deuteron quadrupole and monopole form factors. Measurements at [Formula: see text] are sensitive to the deuteron percentage D state; while measurements at [Formula: see text] are sensitive to a diffraction minimum in the monopole form factor.
