Abstract A polymerization reaction catalyzed by Ti(OC 4 H 9 ) 4 /butyllithium in a reaction medium of silicone oil yields a homogeneous and highly conductive polyacetylene when doped with iron (III) chloride. The effect of the transition metal halide on polyacetylene was studied by solution doping with FeCl 3 /nitromethane as a function of time.
