In this paper, the variation of conductivity of melting water which drips from ice samples during the de-icing process and flashover was investigated. An equivalent surface conductivity was introduced and the relationship between it and the conductivity of freezing water was determined. These results are used in the modeling of flashover along ice-covered insulators.
