The poverty of practice

Abstract

The discussion of power, gender and intervention raises what - from my own practical experience - are nodal issues in the analysis of rural change. They mirror some of the problems and dilemmas I confronted in the analysis of my experiences as an NGO worker in rural Mexico. Although I do not wish to give the impression that I have now found the answers to the problems encountered in the field, I do feel that new paths should be explored, and this is an effort to do so.
