An Assessment of Comprehensive Code Prediction State-of-the-Art Using the HART II International Workshop Data

Despite significant advancements on computational fluid dynamics and their coupling with computa- \ntional structural dynamics (CSD, widely just called comprehensive codes) for rotorcraft applications, \ncomprehensive codes with their engineering type of modeling the rotor blade dynamics, unsteady section aerodynamics and the vortical wake are still the workhorse for the majority of applications. In this paper, the capabilities of such codes will be demonstrated at the example of the HART II International \nWorkshop data base, which includes strong blade-vortex interactions. The challenge is to correctly predict the physics behind and thus, all the dynamics, aerodynamics and aeroacoustics coming with it.
