Abstract

A case of neonatal hypertension secondary to renal artery embolism from an indwelling umbilical arterial catheter was detected by umbilical aortography. Prolonged umbilical artery catheterization may cause vasospasm, intra-abdominal vascular thrombosis, or peripheral arterial embolism. This paper documents the first case of renovascular hypertension reported as a complication of this procedure.
