A series of lanthanide coordination polymers (LnCPs), namely [Ln(TZI) (H<sub>2</sub>O)<sub>5</sub>]<sub>n</sub>(<bold>1–5</bold>) [Ln = Nd (<bold>1</bold>), Eu (<bold>2</bold>), Gd (<bold>3</bold>), Tb (<bold>4</bold>) and Sm (<bold>5</bold>)], were synthesized through the self-assembly of 5-(1<italic>H</italic>-tetrazol-5-yl)isophthalic acid (H<sub>3</sub>TZI) ligand and lanthanide ions.
