Abstract

The structure of thrombi produced by this model was comparable to that of human venous thrombi. Endogenous and injected monocytes migrated into the thrombus during natural resolution, possibly via the vein wall. Monocyte targeting could therefore be used to develop novel treatments for venous thrombosis, with the aim of reducing post-thrombotic complications.
