<para xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"> A record of 680-mW single-frequency red emission at 671.1 nm is demonstrated using a Nd:YVO<formula formulatype="inline"><tex Notation="TeX">$_{4}$</tex> </formula> ring laser intracavity frequency-doubled by a type-I critically phase-matched <formula formulatype="inline"><tex Notation="TeX">$\hbox{BiB}_{3} \hbox{O} _{6}$</tex></formula> crystal. Single-frequency tuning over <formula formulatype="inline"><tex Notation="TeX">$\Delta \lambda _{\rm red} \sim {\hbox {1.25~nm}}$</tex></formula> can be achieved with a thin etalon with reflectivity of 40%. At 1342.5 nm and with a <formula formulatype="inline"><tex Notation="TeX">$T=\ $</tex></formula>2% transmission output coupler, the laser provides an optimal 1.55 W of single-frequency power. </para>
