This paper discusses the pointing and control of NASA's next generation tracking and data relay satellite (TDRS) antennae using classical design techniques and modern multivariable analysis techniques. Classical loop shaping realizes a design with good single loop stability margins. Multiloop stability margin analysis verifies stability robustness against sensor parametric uncertainties, modal frequency shifts and gain/phase variations of the integrated control system.
