CT and ultrasound imaging of retropharyngeal abscesses in children.

Abstract

Lateral neck radiography and contrast CT identify and localize retropharyngeal inflammatory masses in children. US, but not CT, distinguishes between adenitis and abscess and aids in intraoperative aspiration and drainage.
