Nitrogen-rich energetic 4-R-5-nitro-1,2,3-triazolate salts (R = –CH<sub>3</sub>, –NH<sub>2</sub>, –N<sub>3</sub>, –NO<sub>2</sub> and –NHNO<sub>2</sub>) as high performance energetic materials

4-R-5-Nitro-1,2,3-triazolate salts (R = –CH<sub>3</sub>, –NH<sub>2</sub>, –NO<sub>2</sub>, –N<sub>3</sub>, and –NHNO<sub>2</sub>) were systematically synthesized with nitrogen-rich cations. Among the energetic salts, dihydroxylaminium 4-nitramino-5-nitro-1,2,3-triazolate exhibits excellent energetic performance (38.8 GPa, 9464 m s<sup>−1</sup>).
