THE cysteine-containing peptide isolated from yeast and detected in various animal tissues by Hopkins [1921], which was named by him glutathione, was first regarded as a dipeptide of glutamic acid and cysteine; evidence in favour of the view that it was y-glutamylcysteine was apparently provided by the work of Quastel et al.
