Graphene-directed assembly of ZIF nanocrystal arrays was developed to synthesize hierarchically nanoporous Co–N<sub>x</sub>/C materials. The resulting materials exhibit high ORR catalytic activity and superior stability under both alkaline and acidic conditions.
