A theoretical method is presented to study the effects of tall buildings on the measurement of lightning electromagnetic fields. It is shown that the perturbed electromagnetic fields due to the presence of the metallic structure of a building can be determined using an electric field integral equation in time domain. Simulation results depict that the presence of a tall building can considerably affect the measurement results. However, for a given building, it is possible to calculate the associated antenna enhancement factor in order to correct the measurement results.
