Evidence is presented for the charge-exchange photoproduction, in two distinct reactions, of an isovector \ensuremath{\rho}\ensuremath{\pi} state of mass \ensuremath{\sim}1775 MeV. Results of an analysis of the decay-angular distributions are also presented, from which it is concluded that ${\mathit{J}}^{\mathit{P}}$=${1}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$, ${2}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$, or ${3}^{+}$.
