Studies are reported illustrating possible applications of the Fabre-Fourcin laryngograph. The laryngograph may help to reveal prosodic features conveying emotive attitudes, or characterizing different verbal genres. It facilitates the exploration of the semantic field of "melodic clichés," and that of "implicative" intonation patterns. It proves to be a useful tool in teaching intonation patterns of foreign languages.
