Development of a web-enabled environment for collaborative design and manufacture

Abstract

A Web-enabled environment for collaborative design and manufacture is presented which combines appropriate communications and inter connectivity tools to enable manufacturing companies to interactively communicate over the Internet in real time, regardless of their IT platforms. The key techniques involved to develop the environment include: remote execution of large size executable programs, data file exchange between different CAD systems, and data sharing in real time with distant users.
