Ceratobasidium albasitensis is described as a new species based on morphological data and on phylogenetic reconstruction from rDNA sequences, including representatives of otherrelated species. Isolates ofthis species were found in several localities within Albac-ete province (SE of Spain). This taxon is part of the Rhizoctonia s.l. species complex and is placed in the genus Ceratobasidium (Stat. Anam. = Ceratorhiza) on account of its macro- and micromorphological features. In addition, two new methods to induce sexual sporulation on plates are described.
