A fatal case of cerebral myiasis in a 5-month-old child caused by Dermatobia hominis is reported. The larva penetrated through the scalp and the fibrous portion of the bregmatic fontanel, entering the right cerebral hemisphere. This is the second such published case. Knowledge about this species of parasitic fly is briefly reviewed.
