A new technique for the study of nasal mucociliary flow was used in 46 normal subjects and 7 subjects who had undergone laryngectomy. The average flow rate was 7 mm per min in the former group and 8 mm per min in the latter group. The method involves the use of an Anger camera for external detection of a single, small tagged particle placed on the nasal mucosa.
