Abstract

Abstract A checklist is given of 70 speciese of Scolytidae and 26 species of Platypodidae from Thailand. The distribution of each species is given, and notes on its biology where possible. The species are classified into six faunal elements: Palearctic (4 species), Indian (18 species), Malaysian (23 species), Indo-malaysian (22 species), Circumtropical (16 species) find endemic (13 species). The composition of the fauna is compared with that of Malaya and Russia. The following new species are described : Cryphalus keslyae, Phloeosinus kesiyae, Phloeosinus nanus (Scolytidae) and Crossotarsus brevidens, Crossotarsus fagacearum. Platypus beaveri. Platypus brevis, Platypus trmcateilus (Platypodidae). The new species are described by F.G. Browne.
