Abstract

The half-life of Ni 63 has been found by a specific activity determination to be 125 ± 6 years. The number of atoms of Ni 63 was determined mass spectrometrically and the disintegration rate by 4πβ-counting. The cross section for the reaction Ni 62 (n, γ)Ni 63 has been found to be 21 ± 2 barns, in good agreement with that found by Pomerance.
