Abstract

The dynamics of the domain wall (DW) in a biaxial ferromagnet interacting with a spin-polarized current has been studied with the description of the sine-gordon equation coupled with a Gilbert damping term in this paper. The threshold of the current for the motion of a single DW is obtained by applying the perturbation theory on the kink soliton solution of the corresponding ferromagnetic system, and it is shown to be dependent on the Gilbert damping term. The motion properties of the DW are also discussed in both zero- and nonzero-damping cases, which shows that our theory is self-consistent when describing the dynamics of the DW.
