Using the 4 He( 16 O, γ) 20 Ne reaction, ωγ = 1.42 ± 0.17 eV was obtained for the 6 + , 8.79 MeV level of 20 Ne. The experimental E2 transition probabilities in the ground state band of 20 Ne favor a microscopic model over a simple rotational description.
