This article describes details of a new algorithm based on an extension of the «inside-out» approach that combines the advantages of Newton's method with those of inside-out strategy very effectively. To illustrate implementation of this algorithm in ASPEN PLUS release 8.3 and its performance, 4 examples representing very diverse applications, which were run on a VAX 6000-410 computers are described: separation of p- and m-xylenes, esterification reactor/separator, sour water stripper, nitric acid absorption tower
