Abstract

Temperature coefficients of Pco 2 and Po 2 have been determined experimentally for fresh human blood. Changes in Pco 2 over 18 C conformed closely to an exponential change with Pco 2 (hot)/Pco 2 (cold) equal to 10 to the power of 0.019 x temperature difference. For change of Po 2 in fully saturated blood the corresponding value for the exponential constant was 0.0052. In contrast to water, the changes during warming were not significantly different from those during cooling.
