Abstract

A television system for measuring vessel diameters using two imageintensifier- television chains is described. Measurements were made, using a plastic phantom into which holes of varying sizes had been drilled. These were filled with contrast medium. The ability of the system to detect the vessel edge is concentration-dependent, and dilution of contrast medium will result in greater error in small than in large vessels. There is also an apparent time dependency. Accurate diameter measurements were derived using a half diameter technique based on mathematical relationships between an established base line and the densitometric pulse.
