Abstract

The technical problems in quantitative studies of the grazing and predation of copepods such as the influence of the volume of the experimental container and the sinking, reproduction, and concentration of food were examined. Depending on their method of feeding these are the chief factors which markedly influence the filtering and predation rates of copepods. Moreover, both the filtering and predation rates may vary during an experiment for reasons not yet explained.
